The Sweet Sounds of Summer event will feature a 30-minute concert performance by Katherine Lee Althen, flute, and Kathryn Felt, Piano. Additional musical performances by acclaimed NY singer/pianist Eric Yves Garcia inside our mansion and the tunes of the After All Band outside in our garden area. Amazing gourmet h’ordouvres by Salute Restaurant, vintage wines, and a martini bar will make this a must attend event of the summer. This is a semi-formal event and gentlemen are required to wear ties. This event benefits the Reading Symphony Orchestra and is generously underwritten by John P. Feeney Funeral Home. Seating is limited. Tickets are $50 per person—with the entire amount going to the RSO--and can be reserved by calling 610-373-7557.

About the Performers

Katherine Lee Althen, Flute
A provider of “great sinuous magic” (Boston Musical Intelligencer), Katherine (Katie) Lee Althen is a freelance flutist and private teacher in the NYC area. Katie recently graduated from The Julliard School with her Master of Music degree where she studied with the New York Philharmonic’s Robert Langevin. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from the New England Conservatory, where she studied under international flute soloist, Paula Robison, who describes Katie as a “true, intelligent artist” with “a wonderful sense of humor and awareness of life’s surprises.” She has performed in venues across the East Coast ranging from Carnegie Hall to the Sarasota Opera House. Katie shares her passion for the flute with her 31,000+ followers on her popular Instagram account, @katieflute, where she strives to make classical music readily accessible to all. Originally from outside of Reading, Katie was a member of the RSYO during high school. Her previous teachers include Robin Lilarose and Robin Kani.

Kathryn Felt, Piano
Pianist Kathryn Felt is a graduate of Rice University (B.M.) and The Julliard School (MM). She has collaborated with The Julliard Orchestra, The New World Symphony, and The Orpheus Choir of Toronto. In 2015, Kathryn attended the Castleman Quartet Program as a piano fellow, where she performed with violinist Charles Castleman. She is currently a staff pianist at The Julliard School, and teaches at the Nord Anglia International School as well as privately.

He has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Town Hall, Symphony Space, Birdland and 54 Below. He’s had multiple runs at Bemelmans Bar and has headlined at the legendary Cafe Carlyle. His solo show ‘One Night Standards’ and follow-up ‘Pour Spirits’ received raves in The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. Internationally, Garcia has performed at Club Raye in Paris, France and The Crazy Coqs in London, England. The winner of the 2014 Margaret Whiting Awarded and the 2014 Bistro Award for Outstanding Singer/Instrumentalist, Garcia has appeared at Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Kravis Center, The O'Neill Theatre Center, Ten Chimneys, Landmark on Main, The Lyric Theatre, Lynn University, The Brownville Concert Series, The Tilles Center, among many others. He is a graduate of Fordham University at Lincoln Center's theatre department, an audiobook narrator and provides music for Ronald McDonald House charity events.
